Notes from Alumni
- A DC Corrections Information Council inspection report (2022) included feedback from residents: "My issues are not with the guys that's locked up with me; it's with the staff and officers in the BOP." Another commented: "I believe the staff should have some training—People skills which 80% lacks."
- The same report noted that despite prior plans to expand college opportunities, during the 2021 site visit "there was no mention of any relationship with Allegany College or any institution of higher education. Current residents described a lack of computers to learn technology skills."
- The camp offers unique vocational programs including Dog Trainer, Pet Grooming, and Veterinary Assistant, in addition to the RDAP.
- FCI Cumberland operates a license plate manufacturing center where inmates produce plates used on federal government vehicles.
