Notes from Alumni

  • A family member shared concerns on Jail Resources: "My husband has been there for 3 months now, and has not seen anyone from medical. He can not even get anyone to give him anything he requests."
  • One former inmate described his journey through the system on Quora: going "from FCI Herlong medium to FCI Big Spring low then to Lompoc camp then to Florence, CO. camp for RDAP." He eventually received compassionate release due to medical issues.
  • Indeed employee reviews describe a challenging work environment: "Good pay and benefits for what you do. But the job itself is miserable with a toxic environment. Negative inmates (to be expected) but negative staff as well."
  • The facility is located in remote northeastern California near the Nevada border, approximately 60 miles northwest of Reno—one of the more isolated federal facilities in the Western Region.
  • The camp offers vocational programs that enable inmates to work outside the prison in the local community.
